Newspaper clipping which reads: A ‘heavy gal’ in London, Denton County, advertises for propositions to marry. She has a bed, a ‘cotton plant’ cook stove, some dishes, a cradle and a wash-tub, and is fully able to take care of a man. In her letter to the Denton Monitor she says:
I am eighteen years old. Your town is full of old bachelors. Cold weather is coming. Money is scarce. Board is high, and I can put up with rough fare at first. They tell me that I am mighty affectionate and warm-hearted. My weight is one hundred and ten pounds. If any of the old bachelors of Denton want a splashing, buxom gal to soothe him and pet him, when he has the blues, or if there are any of the younger men that have to get drunk to get up courage to talk to a gal; indeed, if any one wants to marry now, while I am in the notion, I repeat, I have all these articles of furniture and am serenely awaiting propositions.
Apply early,
HEAVY GAL
Address, London, Denton Co., Texas
