In Chelsea Stallings' master's thesis "'Removing the danger in the business way': the history and memory of Quakertown, Denton, Texas", Stallings finds the white citizens of Denton removed a thriving, middle class, Black community using American bureaucratic might and murk. Eminent domain laws provided the way in which Denton, led by a group of white women, could revoke the property rights of an entire Black community under the auspices of protecting white womanhood at an all-female university.
